| Please Describe the Incident Thoroughly | Today, 2/8/22 I was driving to work and headed northbound over the Tobin bridge where I struck a pot hole in the Middle Lane that was incredibly large and unavoidable due to other traffic. The options were try to swerve and get hit by another car or hit the pothole. Immediately after hitting the pothole my tire began to lose pressure and ultimately was flat I pulled off the highway at the first exit that I could find and put my donut on in the Dollar general parking lot in Chelsea. I needed assistance from my fiance who had to leave work to come help me I also lost the day of work in this process and I had to take my car back to the dealership in Audi norwell where they are replacing my tire as well as realigning it because I knocked the alignment out when striking the pothole. I have a bill now close to $500 to replace this tire due to negligence in road repairs. Anytime I have ever traveled over the Tobin bridge northbound the road conditions have been terrible potholes are not filled or maintained this goes for any time of the year as this has been the case in the summer as well when the roads aren't subjected to extreme cold. I called the Mass DOT and put in a complaint on their claim line and I'm also reporting it here. I pay taxes and tolls to maintain the roads and the Tobin bridge is never properly maintained. I'm looking for reimbursement for my car damages even though I should be asking for car damages and a lost day of work and disruption of my fiance's time to come and address the situation. AAA gave me a 2-hour period of time before they could get out to me and I was in an area where I felt extremely uncomfortable with many people approaching me. I do not have a photo of the pothole but a simple Google search will show you that I am not alone in what I faced this morning. I have a Google timeline that shows my roots and I can pinpoint where I hit the pothole as well as the roots that I got off the highway and remained until I was able to get the tire changed over to my donut. I also have a photo of my damaged tire for reference and will have a bill from Audi norwell. |
