Project Description

Describe the location and your goals for your Decorative Crosswalk. The location is eastside intersection La Brea & San Vicente Blvd. San Vicente Blvd was originally the path of the trolley cars in this area. I have two goals in applying for the Decorative Crosswalk; 1. neighborhood beautification (there is very little in the way of public art or parks in this quadrant of our community and 2. Pedestrian safety at this very busy intersection that is only getting busier. Brightening the crosswalk with paint will help with the pedestrian visibility issues at this intersection and therefore make the neighborhood more walkable for all ages. Our neighborhood is one of the most ethnically, socio-economically diverse in the city (as stated in our 2001 Wilshire Community Plan) and has neighbors of all ages. Our neighbors love to walk so we want to create safer and prettier paths for them. I would like to do all 4 crosswalks at this intersection so that it would create neighborhood cohesion with the other residents on the Westside of La Brea who will also be using the crosswalks.
