PSSI Stadium LLC is proposing a youth sports activity activation area in the SE corner of the stadium just outside Gate A. The 10,000-12,000 SF artificial turf activation area will be an area for youth sports activities such as drills, camps, and clinics sponsored by the Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh on event and game days. The activation area will be surrounded by a modest lighting fixtures system which is intended for use during events, and may be partially lit for safety and security. The already gently sloping lawn area will be graded nearly flat, draining westerly toward the underpass, utilizing an existing network of storm drains for discharge.
