The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in the United States released a report in June 2023 indicating that lesbian, gay, and bisexual adults (LGBT) are much more likely than heterosexual adults to use recreational drugs, experience mental health conditions including major depressive episodes, and experience serious thoughts of suicide. For example, lesbian and bisexual females were about twice as likely to have engaged in heavy drinking in the past month. Gay and bisexual males and females were two to three times more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to have used illicit drugs.
We are planning a large (at least 100 person) WEEKLY beginner meditation session in West Hollywood, plus a 200-people 3-day breathwork workshop, plus the huge wellness festival. The weekly meditation, plus the festival and the companion 3-day breathwork workshop will promote, practice, and teach wellness & mental health tools (yoga, meditation, breathwork, plant-based eating, etc.)

These initiatives will drastically improve the mental and physical health of West Hollywood residents, shifting our culture from heavy drinking, driving everywhere, eating meat...to mindfulness, sports, walking and biking, veganism and environmentalism.

Not all Co-Sponsorships will include monetary support from the City. Please keep in mind, public funds must be used to support the community, must serve a public purpose, and requests will be reviewed in accordance with all applicable laws.
