The event will feature well-known, local drag queens performing stand up comedy. Whereas many have seen drag queens perform songs, very few if at all have seen drag queens perform in any other context.
Most all of us recognize that drag is a performance art that uses costumes, makeup, and other tools to present exaggerated forms of gender expression to critique gender inequalities and imagine a transformational future where people are truly free in how they express themselves. This event will further push these boundaries by allowing drag performers to tell their own personal stories through the vehicle of comedy.

How does this event benefit the West Hollywood community and/or the City? |
This event will further the City's contribution to and support for LGBTQ comedic arts by providing a rare and unique platform for drag performers to reach a wider audience through stand up comedy. It is important to present drag performers outside their traditional platforms like drag brunches, drag song performances, etc. This event will further the public acceptance of drag performers as true artists, as comedic artists and comedians. It will allow the public to recognize their talents and further promote our understanding of this critical movement in the LGBTQ community.

Yes, we have received two co-sponsorships from the City before.
Our first was for an outdoor LBTQ comedy show at Plummer Park in West Hollywood, in the fall of 2022.
We also received a co-sponsorship from the City for a special Pride Comedy Show in June, 2023.

City Facility Use (if yes, which facility and room, as applicable), Promotion of the event via the City’s communication channels, Validated parking at a City Lot (if yes, which City parking lot or parking facility), Fee waivers for ancillary City permits that may be required for the event (e.g., Special event permit, building and safety permit, encroachment permits, etc.), Monetary Support. Not all Co-Sponsorships will include monetary support from the City. Please keep in mind, public funds must be used to support the community, must serve a public purpose, and requests will be reviewed in accordance with all applicable laws. The request must explain how this funding would be used to cover direct program costs. Funds are disbursed on a reimbursable basis after the provision of suitable expenditure documentation (e.g., receipts).
