Design

Please Provide a 1-2 Paragraph Narrative Describing the Design Concept Project Theme: Conservation focused design highlighting (the unique) natural beauty and open land(wetlands) surrounding Richmond. MAIN ST (30 x 8): CROSSING PATHS: SANDHILL CRANES Design Concept: In this whimsical mural, we celebrate the majestic Sandhill Cranes that migrate through Richmond, Illinois, and their unique habit of crossing roads in town. Inspired by the cranes’ gangly grace and distinctive bugling calls, which can be heard from miles away, I’ll capture the essence of their urban encounters in a fantastical scene. As the cranes step singly across the asphalt with their crimson caps, their movements seem to defy the normal of everyday life. In this surreal moment, I’ll invite viewers to step into the imaginative world where humans and nature coexist in unexpected harmony. BROADWAY (24 x 8): FLIGHT PATHS: SANDHILL CRANES Design Concept: In this vibrant mural, I’ll capture a pair of Sandhill Cranes in flight, highlighting the unique natural beauty of Richmond’s surrounding wetlands. A close-up view, creating a pattern vignette showcasing a bold color palette inspired by the cranes’ striking plumage. With shades of crimson, blues, rust, grey enhanced by dramatic light and shadow, the overall effect will be dynamic and eye-catching, drawing viewers in and inviting them to explore the trail area nearby. The design will also serve as a reminder of the importance of conservation and preserving the natural beauty of Richmond’s open land.
