Please Provide a 1-2 Paragraph Narrative Describing the Design Concept |
Submission #1 This mural proposal is a simplistic pen and ink sketch style representation. It is a collage of the various natural resources Richmond has to offer. It includes the Nippersink Creek with a kayaker in the distance, the historic walking bridge with walking/bike trail, and various wildlife creatures scattered amongst the landscape, and some that are hidden and fun to find. The downtown area has a very cohesive color scheme and style which is clean and modern with a lot of black accents but also keeps the history alive with vibrant colors and architecture. I want to make sure the mural supports these aesthetics by using a similar color palette that compliments the area. The pops of color are going to mimic watercolor technique with splashes of color. The title is "Explore the Beauty of Richmond" suggests that there is more than shopping and eating in this unique little town. I think this particular mural would be a great photo spot and would be best suited on Broadway. This is a rough sketch, and I am open to suggestions and willing to alter the design to accommodate the vision of the village.
Submission #2 This Mural has humor and realism and will use the brick wall from the Main Street location as inspiration. The wild life is coming out for some fun in downtown Richmond! I can adapt any animals native to the area and make the hole bigger to accommodate the panel size if necessary. Included is a simple color rendering and a more detailed sketch with more animals. Included is wildlife native to the area such as: racoon, squirrel, Sand hill Crane, a doe, monarch butterfly, salamander, chipmunk, red fox, snapping turtle, otter, owl, a couple of cardinals, and water fowl. The rough draft is showing the idea with a simple color rendering for the purpose of seeing it in full color. The brick color and size will be closely matched to the actual building, and the animals will look realistic as well. The backdrop is a water source and their will also be more colorful wildflowers added to the field for more pops of color. Images are also provided to see how the finished work would look in the actual location.
The title of this mural could be "Having a Wild Time in Richmond".
