| Subject of Proclamation or Commendation | April 5th 2024 my company; HER POWER, will honor 12 members from the Erie Community at our 10th annual award gala and conference. Our guest honoree will be deputy secretary Shante' Brown, Pennsylvania. Sponsors and partners to include Erie Insurance, JES, Sarah A. Reed, ELRC Region 1, and the childcare policy initiative group. We would be honored if you'd present our guest with a proclamation from the City of Erie. |
| Background or description of person or organization | the purpose of HER P.O.W.E.R IS to SUPPORT professional women and women in business. EMPOWER and increase the status of women owned businesses in the urban community. PROVIDE support and a resources specific to the needs of urban women. ENHANCE women's personal and professional development. The mission of HER P.O.W.E.R, Inc, is to empower women and build networks while promoting personal, professional, economic growth, and independence throughout Erie, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. |
| Description of program, initiative, or accomplishment | It is with great pleasure that we announce our 10th Annual “200 Women United Empowerment Conference” to begin with our Friday evening awards gala with live music from Corey Cook "Life Through Music"; our theme for this year is "it takes a village". Friday April 5, 2024 networking and vending hour begin at 6:00pm & 7:00pm gala; closing with our conference workshop classes Saturday April 6, 2023 8:30am-9:00am registration at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center located at 55, West Bayfront, Erie, Pennsylvania. This year we are partnering with the Early Learning Resource Alliance "ELRC" region 1 and the Sarah A. Reed Children's Center to provide a workshop curriculum for parents and childcare providers. Classes to include a free infant/child cpr and first aid training, PQAS trainer certified. During our luncheon portion Court Gould of the Erie Early Childcare Investment Policy Initiative will facilitate our panel discussion with childcare experts representing valued stakeholders in our community. |
| Explanation of how this person or organization impacts the Erie community | To date our organization has hosted several educational workshops for professional women and women in business; to include those with an interest in business. We have created a network of women across many domains to include the 12 black owned childcare programs that are presented within the childcare portion. Our goal is to assist 5 individuals with opening childcare programs to assist in addressing the childcare crisis that we are experiencing in Erie County. Not only childcare but our organization as helped women of color to open programs to benefit our community such as recovery housing and more. |
