Briefly describe your audience(s) and mission as an artist or organization. Our initiative is to create a safe, accessible, and welcoming environment where youth can explore their own strengths, goals, dreams, beliefs, values, passions, and identities. We provide culturally appropriate supports, services and approaches that help cope with the growing needs of mental health challenges to empower youth to thrive.
Briefly describe the project that will take place. This music and arts festival will be open to all youth in Chelsea to participate. They can display artwork on the gallery walls and sculpture and installations; they can also perform music; electric, acoustic and live DJ'ing.
Outline how you plan to market your project and the timeline you intend to follow. In addition, outline the audiences you intend to reach (be specific). You may attach an additional document if necessary. Marketing: Via social, Youth Elemento mailing lists; reach out directly to city leaders, school administrators, promote on Department of Mental Health Website; advertise via Health Chelsea and other youth organizations to promote youth participation as well as to market the festival. Timeline: April begin marketing outreach and fundraising; May promote along with mental health awareness month; June 15th finalize participants of the festival and all gear needed. Audiences: This is a family event and open to all attendees of all ages.
What benefit(s) will this project bring to Chelsea and its residents? How do you expect to engage the community? Benefits: This festival celebrates the artists achievements of Chelsea's youth. It is important to showcase art and how art both is therapeautic and also contributes to the creative eco money. Engaging the community: We will have one blank canvas with art supplies that we will encourage attendees to interact by collaborating on a public art project. Our prompt will ask attendees to draw anything they like that illustrates how music and art make them feel.
Are you partnering and/or collaborating with other organizations? If so, name the organization(s) and their role(s) in the project. We will ask GreenRoots, Home for Little Wanders, Life Seen, La Colaborativa and You Forward from Everett, Chelsea High, Phoenix Acadamy, Shore Collaborative and SEEM Collaborative to encourage their youth to participate. However, they will not be partners for this event.
Acknowledgement of the Chelsea Heritage Celebrations Grant by the CCC is mandatory on all advertisement and promotions. How do you plan to accomplish this? Be specific. Any posters, social posts, ads will all include this language. We will also have sinage at the event and in our open remarks will give credit to the CCC for the Chelsea Heritage Grant.
How will you measure the success/impact of this project? We will track the number of attendees. Our hope is that we reach thirty artists and ten musicians to participate. Our attendee goal is at least 300 if not more. We will gather emails from attendees who are interested in supporting Youth Elemento as community members and signing up people who are interested in mental health resources from the Department of Mental Health. Additionally, we are interested in encouraging youth to learn more about Youth Elemento to either attend or become peer mentors.
How will the project be modified if the entire amount is not awarded? Be specific. We would not have food trucks and look for food donations.
