Briefly describe your audience(s) and mission as an artist or organization. |
All Chelsea residents and visitors would benefit from this artistic display. We intend to highlight young artist and to improve residents’ pride and knowledge of our city.
Briefly describe the project that will take place. |
Chelsea students have been part of a cultural project in which they drew iconic places of the city of Chelsea in charcoal. We intend to preserve these pieces of art by professionally framing them. This will ensure they remain in mint conditions for future generations. We will showcase these drawings in public spaces and they will also be available for the City of Chelsea and Chelsea-based community organizations to display them as needed.
Outline how you plan to market your project and the timeline you intend to follow. In addition, outline the audiences you intend to reach (be specific). You may attach an additional document if necessary. |
We intend to promote any exhibitions within our Bunker Hill Community College through newsletters and externally through our partners’ newsletters (e.g. La Colaborativa, Good Jobs Coalition, the Neighborhood Developers, Chelsea Public Schools. etc. ) and during local events.
What benefit(s) will this project bring to Chelsea and its residents? How do you expect to engage the community? |
In honor of the 400th anniversary of the city, we will host these drawings in public places for everyone to admire. Also, the City of Chelsea can borrow these pieces of art for special events to highlight the diversity and artistic potential of its residents in addition to showing off its multiple ionic locations at the time they were drawn by students.
Are you partnering and/or collaborating with other organizations? If so, name the organization(s) and their role(s) in the project. |
We anticipate the City of Chelsea and other non-profit organizations will be able to show case the drawings in public spaces, as requested. Bunker Hill Community College Chelsea Campus will house the drawings but other partner organizations will have access to showcase them during cultural events.
Acknowledgement of the Chelsea Heritage Celebrations Grant by the CCC is mandatory on all advertisement and promotions. How do you plan to accomplish this? Be specific. |
In addition to acknowledging the Chelsea Heritage Celebrations Grant as co-sponsor in all public displays, the frames will be ordered with an acknowledgement plaque indicating its contribution.
How will you measure the success/impact of this project? |
Showcasing and preserving these pieces of art for future generations will already be a success. However, we can also measure our success by being an influence in current and future Chelsea young artist. Similarly, we all in Chelsea will be proud to see our iconic spaces drawn and preserved in a frame worth of its cultural contribution to all residents.
How will the project be modified if the entire amount is not awarded? Be specific. |
If $2500 are granted, we will be able to frame the drawings with a more basic frame and with no float or matting, which would not exactly highlight each piece’s beauty. $4500 would ensure that all drawings are professionally framed with float and matting.
