Briefly describe your audience(s) and mission as an artist or organization. My mission as an artist is to both educate and entertain. The goal of this project is to encourage filmmakers of any level - beginning to experienced - to create a short movie - illustrating how they see Chelsea. Do they see it in their family, their friends, the hustle and bustle of the city, the green spaces, construction and bridges. Our audience is our filmmakers, their friends and family, educators, city leaders and business owners and anyone who attends Chelsea Day at Mary O'Malley Park.
Briefly describe the project that will take place. There are many of us in the community who create projects about people in Chelsea. My goal is to empower people who want to tell their own story by providing storytelling and technical support. Our phones are our tools; we can film, edit, add effects and publish from a tiny device in our hand. I will run four workshops open to anyone who is interested to learn about telling story through film and how to utilize their phones to do everything they need. Additional gear in terms of audio will be provided and shared among the filmmakers. There will be workshops in June, July, August and September. October 7th will be our closing date for all submissions.
Outline how you plan to market your project and the timeline you intend to follow. In addition, outline the audiences you intend to reach (be specific). You may attach an additional document if necessary. The project will be marketed in two phases: 1) Marketing outreach to generate filmmakers. Connect with community organizations, schools, religious institutions and social groups. 2) Marketing the festival. Similar outreach with wider marketing to surrounding communities. Marketing Timeline: April, May, June, July, August for participants. September, October, November for the festival event. Festival Event; By the second week of November.
What benefit(s) will this project bring to Chelsea and its residents? How do you expect to engage the community?
Are you partnering and/or collaborating with other organizations? If so, name the organization(s) and their role(s) in the project.
