This is a free to the public, joyful cultural arts festival taking place in the West Hollywood Park to honor the diversity, achievements and courage of women, welcoming people of all gender affiliations to participate. The history of the world to a large extent has always been defined by the deeds of men and framed by wars. The contributions of women have often been short changed. Women role models help young girls believe in themselves, show them what is possible, while helping young boys see women as equals. This is especially needed in these times when the rights of women are being encroached upon.
As this is an arts festival it is designed to give artists a chance to display and perform their works before an audience.

It happened last March and it would be the second year of its existence ideally creating a yearly community event.

| How does this event benefit the West Hollywood community and/or the City? |
Ladies of Courage is a worthwhile event for the city to fund for a number of reasons:
1. It is a community fostering event that utilizes and shows off the beauty and possibilities of the West Hollywood Park.
2. This event provides artists, singers, dancers, poets, projection mapping artists, and animators of all gender identifications with a platform to show/perform their works, while giving the public a chance to enjoy their works.
3. West Hollywood is the home of many businesses that involve the arts. This is a chance for West Hollywood to show their support of that community. This time honorariums will be given to all those performing.
4. If approved this will be the second year the festival is held, adding to the continuity of events that the public can count on from West Hollywood..
5. This gives the city an opportunity to provide to the public a joyous, inspiring and fun event in a time that is often stressful..

Yes, we received a co- sponsorship grant for the last Ladies of Courage event which took place on 2 days, March 25-26,2023.

City Facility Use (if yes, which facility and room, as applicable), Promotion of the event via the City’s communication channels, Validated parking at a City Lot (if yes, which City parking lot or parking facility), Fee waivers for ancillary City permits that may be required for the event (e.g., Special event permit, building and safety permit, encroachment permits, etc.), Monetary Support. Not all Co-Sponsorships will include monetary support from the City. Please keep in mind, public funds must be used to support the community, must serve a public purpose, and requests will be reviewed in accordance with all applicable laws. The request must explain how this funding would be used to cover direct program costs. Funds are disbursed on a reimbursable basis after the provision of suitable expenditure documentation (e.g., receipts).
