Describe your concern In July 2022 I appeared before the City Council meeting to request something be done for the speeding problem on Central Ave. After my presentation outside chambers I was stopped from a gentlemen from Public Works and he said he would look into the matter, there was also a Monrovia PD official and he said they would try to solve this matter. Here we are September 2023 and nothing has been done. The problem is the following: When the 210 Freeway in the Westbound direction is bumper to bumper the traffic commuters will exit the freeway at the Myrtle Ave. off ramp, they then stay on Central Ave, travel one short block, make the stop at Magnolia Ave. and then by the the time they reach my home which is located on the northeast corner of Central and Alta Vista Ave they reach speeds of 50, 60, even 70 miles per hour. and this has been registered many times from the request I and my neighbor across the street have requested that the Monrovia PD speed cart be placed in front of our homes. There are other times vehicles will race each other on that portion of the street. The other concern I have poor signage visibility for the one way sign on Central. Those commuters that are not aware Central Ave. is a one way street and they are traveling south on Alta Vista will many times make a left hand turn onto Central going the wrong way and when they see oncoming traffic they will immediately turn into our driveway to avoid getting into an accident. Recorded save speeds should be available to be obtained from the Monrovia PD cart as I previously explained there were placed there many times My suggestion to solve this matter placing speed bumps on Central. placing a stop sign on the corner of Central and Alta Vista. For the wrong way situation install those plastic dividers on Alta Vista to prevent commutator from making a left hand turn onto Central Avenue. I have lived at this location since 1977 and I would really appreciated it if this matter is looked into. is speeding problem. After my presentation as I was leaving the City Council Chambers I was approached by a gentlemen from Public Works, I wish I would have gotten his name that this matter would be looked into. Also a Police official was present when we had this conversation. Here we are September 2023 and nothing has been done. The problem is the following: When the 210 Freeway is bumper to bumper going westbound traffic commuters will exit the freeway at Myrtle Ave., stay on Central Avenue make a short stop at the magnolia Ave stop sign, and then accelerate their vehicle to 50 , 60 even 70 miles per hour by the time they reach the corner of Central and Alta Vista Ave. which were my home is located on the Northeast corner. When they arrive at Mayflower they make a right hand turn to Huntington Drive to get on the the freeway again. This situation happens all day long even on the weekends. I have requested many times for Monrovia PD to leave the speed register cart in front of my home, which was done and also my neighboreer
