| Please Describe the Incident Thoroughly | The City hired contractor on/or about June 19,2023 to work on water line in vicinity of 58 Garfield Ave. Contractor ruptured water line causing break and shutdown of service in area. When repair was complete, water was turned on - I viewed 2 city workers open hydrant adjacent to my home, wash their boots and shut hydrant off. When I turned on kitchen faucet -- after water was reactivated -- there was zero water flow. I proceeded to turn on all faucets in home and dark brown water flowed from each, with the exception of one showerhead, which had a severely reduced flow. I had a spare head and replaced it. In addition, there was barely any water flow for my washing machine. I immediately contacted the city's Water Dept. and spoke with Lou Centina. He came to my home and verified no flow for kitchen faucet and instructed me to contact plumber -- Drew Donarumo. Plumber came to home and identified problem as dirt/sediment/sludge in line (picture of faucet cartridge attached which was 100% clogged). I contacted manufacturer and no replacement cartridge is available and faucet needed to be replaced. In addition, I had to replace water lines and clean connections on washing machine (picture of q tips attached illustrating dirt/sediment/sludge that had entered main water line for home). In summation, the water line was not bled sufficiently before water was reactivated, causing an inordinate amount of dirt/sludge/sediment to enter the main line to my home. Consequently, it ruined faucet and caused issues with washing machine. My plumber didn't charge me to replace kitchen faucet and troubleshoot washing machine. Subsequently, I'm seeking reimbursement for cost of replacement faucet, shipping and water lines for washing machine. I've attached photos of faucet inoperable, faucet disconnected, q tips indicating severity of problem and receipts. Your attention to this matter is appreciated. |
