Celebrating 70 years of service to the LGBTQ+ community, ONE Archives Foundation presents Circa, the first and only LGBTQ+ histories festival in the United States. Kicking off at the start of LGBTQ+ History Month, October 2023, the month-long, LA County-wide programming series (with approximately 25% of programs in West Hollywood) will showcase the trailblazing histories and vibrant cultural contributions of LGBTQ+ communities through the lens of present-day challenges and triumphs. Spanning the arts, humanities, politics, and culture, Circa will feature queer and trans thinkers and doers leading the movement for LGBTQ+ liberation. It is important for the City of West Hollywood to co-sponsor Circa because of its own history of leadership and impact around queer and trans rights. West Hollywood is historically and currently the capital of LGBTQ+ life in LA County as well as a global capital of queer progress. With an abundance of queer programming during Pride Month, Circa: Queer Histories Festival hopes to take some of the load off LGBT Pride and encourage more queer and trans cultural arts and humanities programming to take place during Queer History Month, annually in October.

ONE Archives Foundation runs the ONE Gallery on Robertson (thanks to the City of West Hollywood) and presents exhibitions and programs at the Gallery year round. For Circa, there will be appoximately 15+ programs in West Hollywood alone, roughly a quarter of the Festival's total programs. Circa will bring a concentration of queer and trans themed cultural arts programming to the City with themes that explore the historical and present day challenges and triumphs of LGBTQ+ communities.

City Facility Use (if yes, which facility and room, as applicable), Promotion of the event via the City’s communication channels, Validated parking at a City Lot (if yes, which City parking lot or parking facility), Monetary Support. Not all Co-Sponsorships will include monetary support from the City. Please keep in mind, public funds must be used to support the community, must serve a public purpose, and requests will be reviewed in accordance with all applicable laws. The request must explain how this funding would be used to cover direct program costs. Funds are disbursed on a reimbursable basis after the provision of suitable expenditure documentation (e.g., receipts).
