Please explain the purpose of this event and why it is important for the City to co-sponsor this event |
The purpose of this event is to unite the LGBQTIA+ and autism/ neurodiversity communities in West Hollywood & Los Angeles. The short film is a family friendly approach to telling what it’s like for a young autistic transgender individual to come out to their community, friends, and family. The film is loosely based on Cinderella, so this makes the screening, a family, friendly, and all ages event to share a positive uplifting and inspirational voice for youth who are going through similar challenges and or experiences. This film was created by a nonprofit called spectrum laboratory, www.speclabs.org, that creates wonderful works and tells inspiring stories about the lives and creative work of Neurodiversity, autism, BIPOC and LGBQTIA+ individuals . This event will help spread love and awareness and appreciation for young creators on the autism spectrum and identify as LGBQTIA+
|
How does this event benefit the West Hollywood community and/or the City? |
This event will benefit west Hollywood, and the city by uniting the autism, neurodiversity, and LGBQTIA+ communities. There is not a lot of films, or media content out there that shows how there is a strong connection between these communities. Many people on the autism spectrum identify as LGBQTIA+. This event will not only bring awareness and acceptance to this, but will also be a wonderful experience for all those who attend to be educated and entertained! This movie, and the Message behind it, is perfect for the city of West Hollywood. We would be so thrilled to share this film, and what spectrum laboratory has done with you!
