Please briefly describe your organization/group and its mission or purpose: |
Weho Pickleball is the fastest growing recreation community in West Hollywood. With over 400+ members, we're here to introduce people from all backgrounds and abilities to the sport of pickleball! It's easy to play and great exercise. And the most community-oriented sport!
|
Is your Organization/Group a 501c3? (It is not a requirement that your organization be a 501c3) |
No
|
Please briefly describe the Organization/Group's connection to LGBTQ Pride |
We only formed last fall, so this will be our first Pride season, but we plan on being a part of it every year!
|
Please briefly describe the Organization/Group's connection to West Hollywood |
As a community recreation organization, we exclusively use the Weho Public Parks to play pickleball (currently all of our games are played at Plummer Park). The Weho City Council has also passed a resolution in favor of pickleball and even sponsored a free city clinic teaching first time players how to play the sport (over 100 people attended).

WeHo Pride Integration
In what way is your organization/group seeking to integrate with WeHo Pride? |
Option 1: Activate a designated space in the footprint of a WeHo Pride event held in the vicinity of West Hollywood Park and San Vicente Blvd. during the weekend of June 3-5, 2022, Option 2: Request City funding for a separately produced event.
|
Option 1 - Space within WeHo Pride Footprint
Please describe you proposed programming/activity within the WeHo Pride footprint: |
We would like to have dedicated space at West Hollywood park where we could have a booth. We would pass out fliers, free Weho-branded pickleballs and potentially raffle off a few pickleball paddles and other gear. We would also like to promote the new pickleball courts that have been added to the roof of the parking garage at West Hollywood Park.
|
Will your organization/group be requesting supplemental funding from the City for programming and activities as a part of your footprint in WeHo Pride? |
Yes
|
Option 2 - Separately Produced Event
Please describe you proposed event: |
The city recently lined the tennis courts on top of West Hollywood Park for pickleball as well as tennis. We would like to host a community free open play on top of these courts during pride, so that we can introduce people to the sport who haven't played yet. And also introduce people to the newest pickleball courts in West Hollywood.
|
Will you be requesting supplemental funding from the City? |
Yes
|
Supplemental Funding
Please describe how you would use the supplemental funding for your event/activation: |
We would like to purchase Weho-branded pickleballs and pass these out for free as well as use them in our open play event. These typically cost $1-2 per pickleball and the minimum order size for a logo-printed ball is usually several hundred balls. We would also like to purchase a few nicer paddles to raffle off. Finally the city has 30 wooden pickleball paddles that they used in their last clinic. We would like to rent these paddles from the City, or at least ask them to donate. We will do everything we can to keep our costs as low as possible!
|
Agreement with the City of West Hollywood
Please note that, if selected, your organization may be required to provide insurance and enter into a written agreement with the City of West Hollywood. |
I agree
