About: Since our founding in 1992, Kol Ami has become an important leader in the Jewish, LGBTQ+, and West Hollywood communities. Our commitment to progressive spirituality, diversity, inclusion and social justice has been celebrated nationwide. Kol Ami, West Hollywood’s premier Reform synagogue, has grown to be an award-winning congregation by daring to be innovative while remaining rooted in Jewish tradition and practice.

Please briefly describe the Organization/Group's connection to LGBTQ Pride |
Congregation Kol Ami is a synagogue that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and has participated in Pride for many years. Kol Ami has held events for Pride, National Coming Out Day, Trans Day of Remembrance, and Trans Day of Visibility, among others. Our Pride for Judaism and the LGBTQ+ community lies at the heart of our institution.

Please briefly describe the Organization/Group's connection to West Hollywood |
Congregation Kol Ami is located in West Hollywood and has worked with organizations in the city, such as the LGBT Senior Center. Many of our members live in West Hollywood. The West Hollywood community directly intertwines within the congregation.

"Stories Beyond the Rainbow: an Evening of Original Queer and Trans Musicals" is a night of original music centered around queer and trans stories. All music is created by Eliana Rubin (she/they), Kol Ami's Education Resident, and includes Jewsicals (Jewish musicals), short musical numbers based around sacred Jewish texts, as well as songs that celebrate what it means to be part of the LGBTQ+ community.

With supplemental funding, we would be able to hire a full band, which would allow the music and performers to flourish and come to life in a way that would not be possible otherwise.
