Please briefly describe your organization/group and its mission or purpose: |
RaiseAChild (Raise A Child, Inc. TIN: 45-3665296) is the nationwide leader in recruitment and support of LGBTQ and all prospective parents interested in building loving families through fostering and fostering-to-adopt, to meet the needs of children in the foster care system. Now in our 11th year, RaiseAChild partners with nine regional foster agencies, the Los Angeles County DCFS, and the Los Angeles County Probation Department for which it conducts targeted foster and adoptive parent recruitment, retention and support efforts.
With clear foresight, RaiseAChild instituted internal adaptive change in the organization’s practice model and was first to lead its partner agencies to utilize online meeting technology for orientations and trainings before the shelter-in-place orders. As a result, the county’s child welfare community is actively preparing to care for the widely anticipated large spike in the numbers of vulnerable children and youth that will need to enter the nation’s foster care system when the pandemic ends. The silver lining is the success RaiseAChild is experiencing in engaging and turning out impressive numbers of prospective foster parents to our collaborative online events.
