WHTMF dba Emerald Village West Hollywood is the official tourism marketing organization for West Hollywood’s licensed cannabis businesses under Municipal Code Section 5.70.042(b)11.
The Mission of the WHTMF is to provide for the mutual benefit of its members by promoting tourism to the City of West Hollywood and making West Hollywood the nation’s premier cannabis tourism destination.

Please briefly describe the Organization/Group's connection to LGBTQ Pride |
Recognizing the importance of West Hollywood to the LGBT community in Southern California, nationally and globally, Emerald Village has made participation in Pride events one of our primary outreach strategies. Our first public activation after launching the organization was at Palm Springs Pride in November 2021.

Emerald Village was effectively created by an act of the West Hollywood City Council. Funding sources and governance of Emerald Village West Hollywood is proscribed under Municipal Code Section 5.70.042(b)11. Emerald Village membership is limited by the Municipal Code exclusively to represent licensed cannabis businesses in the City, so all businesses we represent are based in West Hollywood.

WeHo Pride Integration
In what way is your organization/group seeking to integrate with WeHo Pride? |
Option 1: Activate a designated space in the footprint of a WeHo Pride event held in the vicinity of West Hollywood Park and San Vicente Blvd. during the weekend of June 3-5, 2022, Option 2: Request City funding for a separately produced event., Other (please describe below)

Option 1 - Space within WeHo Pride Footprint
Please describe you proposed programming/activity within the WeHo Pride footprint: |
Emerald Village proposes a 10x10 tent booth activation space to promote local businesses and educate the public about safe and responsible use of cannabis.
Emerald Village will ask attendees to sign up for our mailing list and distribute branded gift bags with promotional items from our member businesses, which may include discount cards, non-medicated edibles and other promotional items.
Additionally, Emerald Village will distribute our West Hollywood Cannabis Map and Responsible Use Guide designed by West Hollywood-based artist Skut, known for his previous work for the City’s Christmas in July and WeHo in Paso events, his 2021 Pride installation at The Artist Tree and the mural at Micky’s WeHo.
Emerald Village commits to prioritizing staffing our booth to the extent possible with workers from the West Hollywood hospitality industry (bartenders, drag queens, dancers, etc) and paying them hourly rates greater than the city’s living wage.

Option 2 - Separately Produced Event

Emerald Village proposes two events under the banner of a “Queens of the Emerald Village” theme:
EVENT 1: A Pride kickoff event the week before WeHo Pride festival to introduce the artists participating in our proposed Citywide installation and performances drag queen contestants participating in our “Queens of the Emerald Village” fundraising competition.
EVENT 2: Over the course of WeHo Pride month, participating drag queens will be asked to raise money for a designated LGBTQ+ charity (TBD) by selling tickets and soliciting donations for a Finale event at the end of the WeHo Pride month to crown the drag queen raising the most funds as the “Queen of Emerald Village West Hollywood.”
Events will be hosted in one or more of the city’s licensed consumption lounges, but purchase and consumption at the event will not be required and at least half of the event space will be held in a non-smoking environment.
Events will also feature curated product selections and pairings from California-based LGBTQ+-owned brands.
As part of a City sponsorship package, Emerald Village will provide 20 tickets to each event to the City for distribution to City officials and/or staff to attend.

Emerald Village proposes a month-long, citywide arts installation at each of our member businesses featuring Pride and rainbow-themed art from local artists curated by the team at local dispensary/gallery The Artist Tree.
Guests may receive a WeHo Pride/Emerald Village branded gift-with-purchase of selected LGBTQ+-owned brands.

Supplemental Funding
Please describe how you would use the supplemental funding for your event/activation: |
Event Funding: Emerald Village proposes to use any funds from the City primarily to pay stipends to drag queen artists participating in the “Queens of the Emerald Village” competition. Additionally, funds may be used to provide non-medicated food and beverages at the events and to set up online fundraising portals to support efforts to raise money for Being Alive LA, a West Hollywood-based charity that screens eligibility for West Hollywood residents to participate in medical cannabis compassion programs.
Installation Funding: Emerald Village will use any funds from the City to pay stipends to participating local artists, compensate a local arts curator, pay for any necessary insurance related to the arts installations and to produce branded WeHo Pride/Emerald Village arts-related gifts-with-purchase at participating member businesses.
