Queerchata is a latin dance company that provides financially accessible dance classes for the queer and trans community. Created and managed by queer and trans people of color, Queerchata is on mission to create a new, degendered and very queer version of Latin dance. Our classes and performances bring latinx and queer culture together in a way that allows folks to connect (or reconnect) with a vibrant and beautiful culture, while honoring their queerness, their transness, and all the things that make them unique.

We'd like to host a beginner bachata class to create a safe space for queer and trans folks to learn a new dance style, while spending time outside in community. This is an event style that we are very familiar with and our community has come to love and expect from us. It would be a great addition to the WeHo Pride programming

| Please describe your proposed integration with WeHo Pride: |
We’d like to perform on stage at WeHo Pride. Our company has beautiful choreographed performances that we showcase at festivals across the country (Queer Latin Dance Festival, New York International Salsa Congress, LA Bachata Festival, Reno Latin Dance Festival, and more). By performing at WeHo Pride, more and more folks will be able connect with a beautiful culture in a way that honors their queerness, their transness, and all the things that make them unique. Seeing very proud Latinx Queer and Trans dancers on stage being their bold and gender-bending self will encourage more people to explore this beautiful and healing art form.

Sound system and mics, promotional material for the event, and compensating our dance instructor for their time.
