| Please Describe the Incident Thoroughly | To whom it may concern, My name is Jenifer Guzman Adams, I have been a resident of 873 Broadway, Chelsea for over 16 years now. I am writing this letter seeking help to get my medical bill paid due to an accident that happened on 1/28/2022 due to the bad shape of our sidewalks which lead me to the CHA Everett Emergency room. Over the summer, there was a huge construction project on Broadway streets and sidewalk which left sidewalks extremely uneven. Street was eventually fixed but the sidewalks were never fixed. On 1/28/2022 around 7:55-8:10am I left my house to drop off my 3-year-old daughter at her daycare which is in 1 Webster Avenue, it was a sunny morning. As we are walking to her daycare, I lost balance of my foot and twisted my right ankle (890 Broadway) which I was unable to walk, I went to receive medical care at CHA Everett, x-rays were taken, luckily everything came out good. I am currently pregnant, and I was afraid I had broken ankle as it was extremely painful, and I could not put any pressure on it. I did not want to seek medical attention because I was afraid of receiving a medical bill which is the last thing, I need during these hard times which the cost of living is going off the roof. I had to end up going to the ER because the pain was not going away, and the next day we were expecting to have a blizzard and It would have been impossible for me to receive services due to the weather conditions. As expected, I received different bills for the services that were provided during this visit, my out-of-pocket costs are $697.87 which I am unable to pay. I already have enough medical bills due to my pregnancy and I can’t afford to pay this amount. I missed 2 days of work due to the pain. Now, my medical insurance is requesting the City’s insurance information for them to be able to submit a claim to the city and be able to pay the medical services that were provided. I have provided my medical bills and photos of the conditions of the sidewalks. It is very unfortunate to know nobody is standing up to better the city, we already pay enough in taxes to get nothing in return. Broadway is a main street, and the conditions are not acceptable. All I am seeking is help to pay off this balance. I also submitted a claim thru the website on 311- service request, as that is where I was told to submit the claim.
